Aiptcomics.com has added a new review for Morgan Hampton‘s “Star Trek: Sons of Star Trek #1”:
I love Star Trek. It’s the first big piece of pop culture that my dad introduced me to, the 2009 reboot was the first time I brought my own movie ticket, and years later I’ve been tuning in to the new crop of Trek shows. IDW Publishing has been turning in its fair share of Star Trek stories as well, with Sons of Star Trek #1 from Morgan Hampton, Angel Hernandez, Nick Filardi, & Clayton Cowles being the latest – and most intriguing – entry.

From the pen of acclaimed Cyborg writer Morgan Hampton comes a new four-part miniseries spinning out of IDW’s Eisner-nominated Star Trek series and fan favorite Star Trek: Defiant series! In the aftermath of Kahless’ harrowing Day of Blood, Jake Sisko struggles to find his place in the universe now that his family has been reunited and his father, Benjamin Sisko, has once again saved the galaxy. Meanwhile, Alexander Rozhenko is recovering mentally and emotionally from his time as one of Kahless’ devout followers. Though his father, Worf, was able to break him away from the Red Path cult, Alexander is haunted by his actions during the bloody coup and is unsure of his ability to atone for the devastation he caused. Jake and Alexander find their stories intertwined as they’re thrust into an alternate universe where they followed their father’s footsteps into Starfleet stardom. As officers aboard the U.S.S. Avery, Jake and Alexander encounter alternate versions of other children of Starfleet legends who show them they all may have a bit more in common than it would seem.

Myconfinedspace.com has added a new review for Andy Mangels and Dave Galanter and David Mack and Dayton Ward and Greg Cox and Heather Jarman and Howard Weinstein and Jeffrey Lang and Josepha Sherman and Keith R.A. DeCandido and Kevin Dilmore and Michael A. Martin and Michael Jan Friedman and Peter David and Robert Greenberger and Susan Shwartz‘s “Star Trek: Tales of the Dominion War”:
I’m on a bit of a short stories journey right now, starting with an unrelated (except for DeCandido’s involvement as author & editor) Precinct series, now this one about various parts of the Domion War. The conflict was a huge part of the last two seasons of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, but they still didn’t tell even a small portion of the possible stories of what the various crews were up to, the situation on Earth, or even on the allied planets. This collection does some justice for those elements and without exception are great stories that honestly could have been fleshed out into full length novels.

In today’s episode, a busted gadget brings the X-Men back to the 24th century, though you probably weren’t around for the first episode. Nevertheless, here they are, arriving just in time to render aid to a planet that’s starting to go through its own mutant growing pains. Which X-Person’s fault is it that they’re stranded here? Will it ever not be weird for Data to smile? And how much bridge conversation is pointless small talk? All this and more in Planet X, the book that’s selling the cure, but no one’s buying.

No official announcement from S&S about this month’s book sale yet, but I was getting antsy about the situation and found these books for $0.99 each on several of the normal book stores I link to every month. This is the first time I’ve seen the two “Strange New Worlds” collections go on sale and I’ve been told they’re great collections of short stories by authors that would later become pretty prolific in our fandom.

“Star Trek: Picard: Firewall” Review by Warpfactortrek.com
Tags:David Mack, New Book Review, Warpfactortrek.com
Warpfactortrek.com has added a new review for David Mack‘s “Star Trek: Picard: Firewall”:
David Mack’s new novel, Firewall, released this week, puts its focus on Seven of Nine in the years between USS Voyager’s return to Earth and the time fans saw her wonderfully resurrected on Star Trek: Picard. It is a fascinating time frame to examine. Of all the veteran characters that Star Trek: Picard reintroduced, there was perhaps none that seemed so fundamentally changed as Seven. The story of what happened to her in those interweaving years was ripe for the telling, and Mack, for the most part, does a great job of it. He has convincingly answered many of my questions about a favorite character.

“Star Trek: Defiant #12” Review by Trekcentral.net

Trekcentral.net has added a new review for Christopher Cantwell‘s “Star Trek: Defiant #12”:
It’s the beginning of a new arc for the series with Star Trek: Defiant #12, which is out today from IDW Publishing. Following the end of Another Piece of the Action, the crew is in a bit of disarray. They planned that after dropping off the miscellaneous characters they’d collected, the team would disband. However, it would appear that fate has something else in store for Worf and the crew of the USS Defiant. This is the beginning of a whole new chapter, kicking off the third arc Hell is Only a Word.

“Star Trek: Picard: Firewall” Review by Atboundarysedge.com
Tags:Atboundarysedge.com, David Mack, New Book Review
Atboundarysedge.com has added a new review for David Mack‘s “Star Trek: Picard: Firewall”:
Star Trek: Picard may have come to an end after three seasons, but in literature the voyage carries on. David Mack’s contribution to this canon is Firewall, which most closely ties in to the events of Picard‘s first (and best) season. More than that, however, it also serves as a successor to Voyager, establishing what Janeway and Seven of Nine did upon returning to the Alpha Quadrant. I’d even argue it’s a better Voyager novel than it is a Picard one.
